London Layover

Tammie, Randy, and I flew to London together on Saturday, August 29. Randy and I spent two nights at Tammie's house in London before continuing to Poitiers, France. Tammie's place is in the lovely neighborhood known as Holland Park (adjacent to Notting Hill). We spent a few hours getting supplies for the house, but we also had time to wander around the neighborhood and to meet some of her new London neighbors.

Beaver Creek, Colorado

We spent a week in Beaver Creek at my sister Tammie's condo just before flying to London.Tammie and Stan came up for the weekend and we were joined by Stan's friend Rudy and his girlfriend, Randa. What great people! We had a fabulous time. Everybody went ice skatiing in Beaver Creek Village, and the following day, Rudy gave Tammie a mountain-climbing lesson. Whew! A bit scary.

Arches National Park in Utah

Not much to say about Arches National Park other than that it is absolutely beautiful! We were here several years ago, and we were delighted to return. Fortunately, we got there early in the morning, so we were able to hike around the arches before it got too hot.

Terrie and Robin Completed the John Muir Trail!

My sister Terrie and her friend Robin spent three weeks hiking the 240-mile John Muir Trail in California. I can't image spending three weeks on a trail (nor would my knees allow me to do it!), but they seemed to enjoy it immensely. Randy and I took the coward's way out and met them at the end of the trail to help them celebrate.

The two hikers had dreamed of eating a pizza at the end of the trail, so the four of us went to the very popular pizza restaurant in town for pizza and salads. If it tasted good to us, I'm sure it tasted like a gourmet meal to them! The following morning, we had a hearty breakfast together and then did a 5-mile round trip hike to Lone Pine Lake. It was absolutely exquisite!

Lovely Laguna Beach

All of our friends know we're going to spend some time in France this fall. But not all of them know that once we leave Orange County, we'll be making a few stops along the way (Mount Whitney, Arches National Park, Beaver Creek, London...) before we reach our destination. I know these are going to be fabulous places in their own right, so I'm going to include some photos and stories about them on this blog.
Actually, before we leave "home" we'll be spending some time in Laguna Beach with Tammie, Stan, and Scamp,  so I'll start with a few photos of Laguna...and one of Scamp.
